Man Shall Not Live More than 120 Years - Nevermind!

Gen 6:3-4  And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.  There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Gen 9:29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died.

This refers not to the age of man, but the time frame from when God first spoke to Noah (Noah was 500 years old) to the flood(less than 120 years later). Elementary-aged Sunday schoolers even know this. Again, your purported knowledge is less than elementary. And its grossly erroneous postings and comments such as this one that cause others to hold bloggers in such low regard.

Yes, a trivial difference in interpretation is worthy of examination, rather than the horrendous genocide exacted by God among his creation. Your priorities are misplaced, I dare say.

(Note - I added the next verse (Gen 6:4) to the original post

Furthermore, I think you're exactly wrong. If it is as you say, then God was speaking within the context of the Flood. And yet the very next passage after the 120 years statement has nothing to do with the Flood or the wickedness of Man, but rather "giants" roaming the earth, as well as mighty men. So, it appears that God is addressing his strife with contending with the descendants of Adam as well as these mysterious "giants" and the offspring of the "sons of God" and the "daughters of man."

And elementary-aged Sunday Schoolers ask difficult questions about the obvious absurdities of these stories, to which their teachers reply "do not think, just listen and obey."
